Test yourself:

Make a table for your search terms (see the example from 3.7. Table for search terms). Fill in your tentative research question and select the most important components.
Translate the words to English and find more synonyms, variations, or abbreviations.
Try searching in a relevant database. Search with two or three of your most important search terms.
Go through the 15-20 first hits. Select an interesting article that you wish to look at more closely to find more relevant search terms. Study the reference list and follow the references in the article to find more search terms
Are you getting all you can out of your text words? Test what happens if you use search techniques like truncation or phrase searching if you have a term that consists of several words. Remember to use quotation marks when phrase searching.
What did you find? Add new search terms to your search table and make note of which search terms are subject terms or text words.
