4.3 Peer Review Assignments

In some courses, peer review can be used as a teaching activity. This means that students provide feedback to each other on submitted assignments.

Who will give feedback on the different assignments is determined in advance. Instructors can manually assign tasks, or Canvas can automatically distribute the assignments among students. It is possible to assign each student one assignment or multiple assignments. Peer review can also be displayed anonymously, which is something the instructor can configure.

Below you will find information on how to submit an assignment for peer assessment, how to provide feedback, and how to view feedback given to you by others.

How to submit an assignment for peer assessment?

Step 1: Open a specific assignment, for example, through "Assignments" in the course menu.

Step 5: The buttons on the right side provide different ways to provide feedback. For example, you can highlight something and leave a comment on the side.

Video about peer assessment

Below you can watch a video about peer review in English, or read a step-by-step guide on how to perform peer review in Canvas.

Due to limitations in Canvas, you do not receive a deadline for providing feedback to fellow students in Assignments or Calendar. It is usually communicated by the instructor in Announcements or in the assignment instructions.
