You can receive notifications about various activities in Canvas courses. For example, you can get notified when an announcement is published by an instructor, when a reply is added in a discussion, and when an assignment is graded. These notifications can be delivered to your email and mobile devices if you have downloaded the Canvas Student app. You can customize the types of notifications you wish to receive and how often you want to receive them.

How to enable notifications?

Step 1: Click on Account in the main menu.

Step 2: Click on Notifications.

Step 3: Now you will see an overview of the notification settings for different features in Canvas and the email address registered with your account.

Step 4: Click on the bell or calendar icons to modify the settings for each feature.

If you have the Canvas app, you can receive notifications on your mobile device when your instructor posts a new announcement or assignment and you are on the go.
